Something Old, Something New

When my sister-in-law gave me a pile of her old sewing patterns, she mentioned that one was the pattern of her wedding dress she had made in 1969, I knew I had to make it in to a gift for her.
She recently made the wedding dress into a christening dress for her granddaughter, so I was able to get some fabric, lace and trim from the original dress. I added a photo from the wedding and it turned out perfect!

Time is Flying!

Can it be March already? Winter gives me the opportunity to stay indoors and work each day in my art room. I've done more vintage pattern frames and shadow boxes and I have started working with vintage sheet music.

A Busy and Successful 2017

2017 has been a year of learning and growth.

I volunteered to help some friends with their gift shop and gallery in Boscobel and it was an eventful 7 months. I learned how to build a website. I learned more about marketing and promotions. And I learned how hard it can be sometimes to work with close friends. I met many great people while volunteering at the shop and during the workshops we conducted. And during the 8-10 hours a week that I worked in the shop as a salesperson was able to have lunch and hang out with my Mother each week. I parted ways with the shop in August.

I made an important connection during my time at the Boscobel shop that led me to a new venue to showcase and sell my artwork. Starting in August I began selling my artwork in Prairie du Chein at a wonderful shop called The Planted Tree and Gallery. I also sell antiques and collectibles along with my art. It's been a successful collaboration and I am excited that so many people get to see my work.

My artwork has evolved this year so much and I have learned new skills and techniques. There is no one thing that I do, but my baby doll art is still my favorite! I usually have 3-5 projects at one time in progress in my art room and it get a little chaotic!

I'm looking forward to 2018. I have some new ideas I want to try out and am hoping to do another show of my work at a local venue. Stay tuned!
